The Consultation

What to Expect From Your Free Consultation

The first conversation with Colombia Care is a free, virtual consultation with our medical team. It is unhurried, genuinely informative, and carries no cost and no obligation. Here is exactly how it works.

A consultation should never feel like a leap. It is simply a conversation: you describe what brought you here, the medical team listens and answers your questions, and you leave with a clearer sense of your options and a written record of what was discussed. Nothing is decided for you, and nothing is pushed.

How to book your consultation

Booking takes a couple of minutes. You can send a short message through the contact form, write to the team on WhatsApp, or call. All you need to share at this stage is the concern that brought you here and a sense of your availability. A coordinator replies to find a time that suits you, including across time zones, since most patients are joining from outside Colombia.

The virtual format

The consultation is fully virtual, so there is no need to travel for it. It takes place over a video call from wherever you are comfortable, on your phone or computer. The coordinator sends a simple link in advance and is on hand if you have any trouble connecting. Because it is virtual, the consultation is easy to fit around work and family, and easy to reschedule if life gets in the way.

The call itself

Plan for roughly thirty minutes. You will speak with the medical coordinator and a physician from the Colombia Care team. The conversation is led by listening: the physician asks about your history, how your concern affects your daily life, any imaging or records you have, and what you would most like to get back to. You are encouraged to ask as many questions as you like. It is your time, and a good consultation is one where you do plenty of the talking.

How to prepare

You do not need to prepare anything formal, but the consultation tends to be most useful when you bring a few things to hand:

  • A short summary of your relevant medical history, including anything you have already been told.
  • Any imaging or test results you already have, even if you only have them as photos on your phone.
  • A list of the questions on your mind, written down so none get forgotten.
  • A clear sense of your goals, the activities, comfort, or daily routines you would most like to improve.

If you do not have imaging or full records, that is completely fine. The physician will simply work from what you can share and let you know if anything further would be helpful.

The process, step by step

From first message to a clear next step, the consultation follows four simple stages:

Reach out

Send a short message through the form, WhatsApp, or a call, and a coordinator helps you find a time.

Join the virtual call

A roughly 30-minute video consultation with the medical coordinator and a physician, from wherever suits you.

Talk it through

The physician listens to your history and goals, answers your questions, and discusses what may be worth exploring.

Receive your summary

You get a written summary of the discussion and a clear, no-pressure next step to consider in your own time.

What you receive afterward

After the call, the team sends you a written summary of what was discussed: the questions you raised, the points the physician covered, and the options that came up in conversation, along with one clear next step. The summary is yours to keep, to reread, and to share with anyone you would like to involve in the decision, such as a family member or your own doctor at home.

No cost, no obligation

The virtual consultation is free, and it carries no obligation of any kind. It is meant to give you clear information and a written record, so you can decide what feels right at your own pace. If you choose to take things no further, that is a perfectly good outcome.

If you decide to travel

Travel only ever comes up if and when you decide you would like to take a closer look in person. There is no expectation either way. If you do decide to visit Medellín, the bilingual concierge team takes over the planning so you are not left to organize a trip abroad on your own.

The concierge team can coordinate the practical details: guidance on flights into Medellín, airport pickup, private transport, and vetted English-speaking accommodation near the clinic in El Poblado. Their role is to make the logistics effortless so your attention stays where it should, on the visit itself. You can read more about the city and the support available on the Medellín & Travel page.

A simple first step

If you have been wondering whether to reach out, the consultation is designed to make that easy. It is free, it is virtual, and there is no obligation. You bring the questions; the medical team brings the time to answer them.
